January 10 marked the 80th Golden Globe Awards ceremony honoring the best in film and American television of the preceding year. Our team at OnAir was thrilled to see several nominated and winning productions featuring our capabilities!
The Fablemans (winner)
You can spot several of our vintage recreations in this Steven Spielberg hit, based on his own adolescence and life as an aspiring filmmaker. Set in the early 50s onwards, our colorful designs, from floral wall borders to printed drapes, complement this period seamlessly. This production won Best Drama Motion Picture and Best Director - Motion Picture.
Euphoria (winner)
A winner of Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Drama by Zendaya, this production is an HBO Max hit series following the lives of high school students navigating the toils of everyday life. We printed several designs to enhance the authentic appearances of the characters’ homes seen in the series.
The Dropout (winner/nominee)
Both a winner of Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television by Amanda Seyfried and a nominee for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, this Hulu miniseries is based on Elizabeth’s Holmes life as the founder of the fraudulent blood-testing company, Theranos. Our vintage recreations of wallpaper borders add authenticity to scenes set in the past.
Babylon (nominee)
Following Hollywood’s transition from silent to sound films, this period piece comedy-drama was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. On Air’s capabilities are heavily seen throughout the production, featuring several vintage prints, signage, and paintings, to name a few. These elements were crucial in giving a sense of authenticity to the setting.
Under the Banner of Heaven (nominee)
This Hulu true crime series was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Set in the early 80s, our vintage wallpapers appear in the production to complement the time.
Pam & Tommy (nominee)
Following the tumultuous marriage of Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee, this production’s setting is in the late 90s. Our printed products enhance the vintage California look of Lee’s mansion in Malibu. Bright colors and crisp textures in this period are meant to show the celebrity couple’s ironic wealth and lack of taste. It was nominated for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television and Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
Gaslit (nominee)
This political thriller following Richard Nixon’s 1972 Watergate Scandal was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. On Air's design capabilities shine in the "Kennedy Caucus Room," where the Watergate Senate Committee held a trial with multiple suspects under investigation. This room was meant to be ceiling-to-floor marble; however, the team could only achieve this in a portion of the space due to budget limitations. We printed the production's custom marble design on Sintra plastic panels, which were then applied to the fabricated walls.
The Patient (nominee)
One of Hulu’s latest psychological thriller series was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. On Air showcased skills beyond wallpaper and signage by producing an aluminum-based piece for the series. It appeared in a scene depicting a gas chamber as its focal point.
Where the Crawdads Sing (nominee)
Nominated for Best Original Song - Motion Picture, this coming-of-age drama follows an abandoned girl in the marshes of North Carolina. Mainly focusing on her feminity, perseverance, and strength, On Air printed a vintage floral pattern to complement this character trope.
