At On Air, we make the impossible possible. Such as making marble affordable, lightweight, and easy to roll up and install on the wall. Many film and TV sets use marble to create an air of exclusivity, expensiveness, or formality, but acquiring and installing real marble is often not feasible–that's where we come in. With our library of 65+ marble designs, endless customization options, and various substrates to print them on, On Air can help create your marble vision. Below, check out a few productions that have used our faux marble capabilities in different ways!

The characters of AppleTV's legal thriller Presumed Innocent spend a lot of time in the courtroom. Production Designer John Paino had his work cut out for him, creating a space that carried the tension and gravitas of a real-life courtroom. The On Air design team used marble patterns from our library, colored and arranged them according to the production design team's vision, then printed the flooring on rigid boards in sections. On Air also routed the boards to size to ensure a seamless fit when installed on set, and the final product serves as the groundwork for the somber mise en scene.
The 2023 reboot of Frasier, almost 20 years after the original show ended, follows Frasier Crane as he moves to Boston to be closer to his son and begin his “third act.” He takes up a job teaching at Harvard, leaving behind both his Seattle radio talk show and Chicago-based daytime talk show, Dr. Crane. Production designer Glenda Rovello designed the set of Dr. Crane to emulate many daytime talk shows–city skyline, armchairs cheated out, and mugs with the show's logo on them. She also included a faux marble centerpiece in the flooring, created by the On Air design team from marble patterns in our library pieced together in a compass shape. This design was printed on two large pieces of linoleum and combined on set for a seamless addition to the set’s flooring.
The Gray Man takes viewers on a globetrotting adventure, everywhere from a Florida state prison to Croatia and beyond. For this French chateau, production designers Dennis Gassner and Chris Lowe ensured that every detail felt expensive, grand, and historic. The twist? Much of the flooring in the chateau, including this marble in the entryway, was fake. The On Air design team scanned in painted faux marble created by the set dec team and adjusted color, scale, and amount of veining until it looked fit to be walked across by villainous henchmen. The marble patterns were printed on VCH (vinyl-coated hardwood) boards and installed on set, then glazed over with a protective coating for a bit of extra realistic shine.
Our faux marble doesn’t only work as flooring! Production designers have gotten creative and used it in a variety of vertical spaces as well. For instance, the set of Cameron Esposito’s comedy special Four Pills switches back and forth between a traditional comedy club and an all-white room without an audience, showing how Esposito balances a vibrant life with the calming experience of being medicated for bipolar disorder. Designed by Tricia Robertson, both sets feature our Marsala marble pattern, printed on vinyl adhesive for easy installation on the walls next to the stage.
Netflix’s Sirens examines themes of power, class, and gender over the course of a single weekend at a luxury estate. The estate itself becomes a character in the series, an omnipresent reminder of the power imbalance and class divide between the characters. Glamorous production design by John Paino emphasizes the opulence of the estate, with plenty of pastels, floral arrangements, gold touches and–you guessed it– marble. In this lavish bathroom, deep green marble with dramatic veining sets the stage for a tense confrontation. The marble was designed by the production design team and then printed by On Air on self-adhesive vinyl. Add some gold towel racks and some frosted glass, and voila! Dramatic bathroom for the ages.
We can print custom marble patterns on a wide variety of substrates, whether it’s intended for flooring, vertical surfaces, or beyond. Each substrate lends its own unique properties to the marble being printed on it, and our design team can help advise which material works best for your vision. Additional specialty printing techniques, such as spot gloss, can help bring the marble to life even further. Spot gloss can be applied across the entire print for a high-shine impact, or in strategic places to make certain parts of the design pop. Here, our emerald-hued Capri marble pattern has spot gloss on the darker areas, leaving the white veins matte and adding texture to the overall effect. If you’re interested in spot gloss, let our team know!
